TECHNOLOGY IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
It is the aim of Te Puke Intermediate to develop a ‘Technology Culture’ within the school.
- To develop student skills in all aspects of Technology
- Parents to view Technology as a strong feature of the school,
- Foster in students a lifelong interest in Technology.
This can be achieved through:
- Strong specialist skill based teaching in Specialist rooms
- Providing role models
- Participation in class ICT, assembly performances, classroom work,
- Performance
- Sharing with parents at 3 way conferences
- Parents attending assemblies
ACHIEVEMENT AIMS:
Students will participate in Technology at Te Puke Intermediate pursuing the aims as outlined in the curriculum document.
Students will –
- Contribute actively to Food, Workshop, Electronics, and Hydraulics and Information Communication Technology within Te Puke Intermediate.
- Learn how Technology operates in and contribute to societies and cultures within local and overseas contexts.
- Develop practical knowledge in technology exploring and using the elements, conventions, processes, techniques and technologies of each Technology discipline.
- Develop a lifelong interest in Technology with a view to career opportunity.
Year 7 Programme:
The Technology Staff will primarily focus, teach and assess “skills” in their respective areas for year 7.
Year 8 Programme:
The Technology staff will primarily focus, teach and assess the use of skills taught in Year 7, integrating the learning with the problem solving approach and with the Inquiry Unit run through the school.
Technology will be taught using four ‘avenues’ to achieve these aims:
a) FOOD – Health and Well Being: to be taught by the specialist Food Technology Teacher and integrated with Inquiry “Big Question” where possible.
b) ELECTRONICS / HYDRAULICS – to be taught by the specialist Workshop teacher and integrated with Inquiry “Big Question” where possible.
c) WORKSHOP – to be taught by the specialist Workshop teacher and .
integrated with Inquiry “Big Question” where possible.
d) INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY - to be taught by the specialist Information Communication Technology teacher and integrated with Inquiry “Big Question” where possible
