THE ARTS IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
It is the aim of Te Puke Intermediate to further develop the ‘Arts Culture’ within the school. (an indefinable term meaning students developing pride in all aspects of The Arts, parents to view The Arts as a strong feature of the school, and to foster in students a lifelong interest in The Arts.)
Through role models, participating, performance and audience acknowledgement our students will develop the ability to appreciate,
participated in, and develop a lifelong interest in the Arts.
Achievement Aims:
Students will participate in The Arts at Te Puke Intermediate pursuing the aims as outlined in the curriculum document. Students will –
Contribute actively to dance, drama, music and the visual arts within Te Puke Intermediate and the local community by making, presenting and responding to Art works.
Learn how the arts operate in and contribute to societies and cultures within local and overseas contexts.
Develop practical knowledge in the arts, exploring and using the elements, conventions, processes, techniques and technologies of each arts discipline.
Develop a lifelong interest in the arts.
The Arts will be taught using four ‘avenues’ to achieve these aims:
a) MUSIC – to be taught by the music tutor and integrated with STMs where appropriate. In addition to this music may be taken within syndicates should the opportunity, time and expertise permit.
b) ART – to be taught by the specialist Art teacher and integrated with STMs where appropriate. In addition to this Art may be taken within syndicates should the opportunity, time and expertise permit.
c) DANCE AND DRAMA – to be taught by the specialist Performance and Production teacher and integrated with STMs where appropriate. In additon Dance and Drama may be taken within syndicates should the opportunity and time allow.
d) WHOLE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE – this occurs when students are selected from across the school to perform in:
· Arts Festival
· Choir
· Waiata
· Band
· School Production
· Assemblies
